Author Bio: Sunil Gangopadhyay
Sunil Gangopadhyay (7 September 1934 – 23 October 2012) was a prominent Bengali author, poet, and editor. Born in Faridpur, Bangladesh, he was well-educated at the University of Kolkata, where he completed his M.A. After starting his career in various roles such as a clerk in a government office and an officer in an insurance company, Gangopadhyay ventured into writing, where he first gained recognition for his poetry.
He was the founding editor of the literary magazine Krittibas and is known for his significant contributions to Bengali literature, especially in poetry and fiction. Some of his notable works include novels like Atmaprakash and children's books like Sabuj Dwiper Raja. Gangopadhyay was awarded prestigious honors, including the Ananda Puraskar, Bunkim Puraskar, and Sahitya Akademi Award. He was also known by his pen names, including Neel Lohit and Santan Pathak.
His death in 2012 marked the loss of a literary giant in Bengali literature.
