  • Author Background: Sunil Gangopadhyay (সুনীল গঙ্গোপাধ্যায়), born on September 7, 1934, in Faridpur, Bangladesh, was an iconic Bengali writer, poet, and journalist. He pursued his studies at Kolkata University, where he earned his MA. Starting his career as a tutor, he later worked in various roles, including as an officer trainee in an insurance company and a worker for UNESCO's adult education program. He is best known for founding the literary magazine Krittibas. Gangopadhyay was also a well-established poet and novelist, having earned significant acclaim for works such as Atmaprakash and Eka Ebong Koyekjon. He won numerous prestigious awards throughout his career, including the Bunkim Puraskar (1983) and Sahitya Akademi Award (1985). He passed away on October 23, 2012.
