  • Author Background: সমরেশ মজুমদার (Samaresh Majumdar) was born on 10th March 1944 in the tea gardens of Duars. He grew up in Jalpaiguri district before moving to Kolkata in 1960. Majumdar completed his education in Bengali literature from Scottish Church College and Kolkata University. He started his writing career with plays and later moved to stories. His first story was published in দেশ in 1967, and his debut novel, দৌড় (Daud), was published in 1975. Majumdar has written several notable works, including উজান গঙ্গা, কালবেলা, কালের পুরুষ, and many more. His works have won prestigious awards, including the Ananda Puraskar (1982) and Sahitya Akademi Award (1984) for কালবেলা.
