About the Author:
Aparajita Mukhopadhyay (b. 1947) is an esteemed economist and academic. She taught for over three decades at Visva-Bharati University. Mukhopadhyay has conducted research in agricultural economics, environmental economics, and the economic history of ancient India, publishing extensively in both English and Bengali.
