His journey led him to Japan, America, Persia, Germany, Russia, and finally to Mexico, where he found a surprising refuge that felt oddly similar to his own homeland. In Mexico, he started a family, turned his focus to agriculture, and became an international expert in high-yielding food crops, especially a new variety of corn.

Though he found peace in his new life, Khankhoje’s heart always yearned to return to India. It would take forty years before he could finally set foot on his homeland again, but he lived to see India’s freedom before his death.
