About the Author:
Abhayapad Mitra was born on January 2, 1939, in Kumir Modra village, Hooghly district. A retired branch manager of UCO Bank, Mitra is a self-taught juggler who learned the craft under the guidance of his father, Kalasona Mitra, at an early age.
Mitra gained immense fame for his juggling performances both in India and abroad. He is widely known for his performances in films directed by Satyajit Ray and his memorable work in Sandeep Ray’s films. He was honored by Mother Teresa with the title “Great Entertainer of Children” for his contributions to entertainment. He has also received the prestigious P.C. Sarkar Trophy from the All India Magic Circle.
Currently, Mitra continues to perform juggling to raise awareness and funds for the welfare of physically and mentally challenged children across India.
