About the Author:

  • Rupam was born on January 25, 1974, in Kolkata.
  • He started his career as a teacher at Taki House School from 1995 to 2006 before voluntarily retiring from teaching.
  • Rupam’s debut album, Tor Bhorosate (1998), released under HMV, marked the beginning of his iconic journey in the music world.
  • In 1999, Fossils, the famous Bengali rock band, was formally launched, and Rupam’s entry into Bengali rock music became a defining moment in the genre's history.
  • He was the editor of the Bangla Rock music magazine and has a significant career in playback singing, music direction, and lyric writing.
  • He is also known for his contributions to literature, with his character Brahma Thakur debuting in novels like Anamika Bole Dakte Pari Ki Tomay and Brahma Thakur Plus Two.
  • Rupam has published his first poetry collection Tire Eseo, Sahasini and has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the National Award in 2009 as the best background singer and the Sangeet Samman by the Government of West Bengal in 2015–16.
