  • Birth: January 8, 1909, in Kalijuri village, Sylhet district (now in Bangladesh), from an eminent Bhattacharya family.

    • Studied various disciplines such as literature, mythology, philosophy, logic, tantra, and Vedanta under renowned scholars in Shrirampur, Mymensingh, and Kolkata.
    • Achieved "Shastri" and "Tirtha" titles after passing exams in specific subjects.
    • Self-taught English after completing his schooling.
  • Career:
    • Taught literature and philosophy at several institutions, including a brief stint at a royal family in North Bengal.
    • Became a researcher and lecturer at Visva-Bharati University in Santiniketan in 1937, where he worked until his retirement in February 1974.
  • Contributions:
    • Authored thirteen books and over 200 articles on a wide range of topics, including Sanskrit literature, culture, and philosophy.
    • Influenced by Rabindranath Tagore, under whose guidance he was inspired to write.
