Description:
In Chatjaldi Jalkhabar, Asha Mukhopadhyay brings a collection of quick and tasty snack recipes that meet the fast-paced needs of the modern-day homemaker. With her vast culinary experience, she presents both traditional and contemporary recipes for snacks (Jalkhabar), ensuring that no one has to compromise on taste or quality even when they are short on time.

The book features a variety of snacks, including both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, as well as delicious home-made sweets. From the spicy Mangsher Dahi Bora (meat dumplings in yogurt) to the simple yet flavorful Hing-er Kochuri (asafoetida-stuffed puris), the book also offers the secret to making Jaynagarer Moa, a traditional Bengali sweet. It’s a perfect guide for young homemakers, especially those who are just starting out in the kitchen and need quick, practical recipes.

The easy-to-follow recipes ensure that you can prepare mouth-watering snacks in no time, whether it’s a simple day-to-day treat or a special one for guests.

About the Author:
Asha Mukhopadhyay was born on 15th August 1927 in undivided Bengal (now Bangladesh). Her paternal grandfather, Saradacharan Mukhopadhyay, was the Dewan of the Dhaka Nawab State, and her father worked in a private organization in Kolkata. In 1946, Asha moved with her parents to Kolkata, where she developed a deep love for music, literature, and cooking.

Alongside her homeopathic practice, she was highly enthusiastic about reading, listening to music, and playing sitar and guitar. Known for her honesty and clarity, Asha’s culinary skills were exceptional. In her later years, she began to write about her experiences in cooking, and Chatjaldi Jalkhabar is one of the outcomes of her lifelong passion for food.

Asha Mukhopadhyay passed away on 25th January 2010, leaving behind a legacy of delicious recipes and heartfelt writings.
