About Begumpuri Saree

Begumpuri sarees are beautifully handwoven by over 2,000 enterprising weavers and 1,000 ancillary artisans in Hooghly district. These easy-to-maintain cotton sarees do not require frequent starching. Characterized by deep and bright colours, Begumpuri sarees have a loosely woven, coarse structure with a smooth feel. Each saree takes 2-3 days to prepare. Biswa Bangla has introduced new designs and colours using natural dyes to recreate the renowned Begumpuri saree for the contemporary connoisseur.
