Asit Pal, born on June 15, 1950, in Kolkata, is a renowned scholar and researcher of the artistic movements in Kolkata, particularly those relating to the "Bottala" style of art. After completing his education at the Government Art College, he spent 30 years at the Anandabazar Group. His research into 19th-century wood engravings has made him internationally recognized. He has authored several important works, including books and exhibition catalogs, and has curated exhibitions in both India and abroad. He has contributed extensively to the study and preservation of India's rich artistic heritage.
