About the Author:
- Kumarprasad Mukhopadhyay was born in February 1927 in Allahabad.
- He completed his schooling and university education in Lucknow, earning an M.A. in Economics and Sociology.
- He served as a Central Government officer in the Industrial Management Pool and held various important positions in organizations like NCDC, Coal Mines Authority, and Coal India Limited between 1967 and 1984.
- After retiring, he became involved in several companies and continued his work in diverse fields.
- Kumarprasad began his music training at the age of eight under Rabindralal Ray and later received lessons from legendary figures like Ustad Mushtaq Hussain Khan and Ustad Fayaz Khan.
- He trained under renowned maestros such as Ustad Ata Hussain Khan and Ustad Latafat Hussain Khan.
- He has performed in major cities across India and participated in prestigious music conferences and performances.
- His first performance on All India Radio was a National Program as an invited artist.
- He has delivered lectures and sung at various institutions, including the Kolkata Music Research Academy, Simla’s Institute of Advanced Studies, and the Academy in Madras.
- Kumarprasad received the Pandit title from the Gayan Samaj of Bangalore in 1972 and the Rabindra Puraskar in 1403 for his book Kudrat Rangibiringi.
