Details: Bhagavadajjukam of Bodhayana is a one of the earliest farces and it is often clubbed with the Mattavilasaprahasana of Mahendravikramavarman since both the works are mentioned in the Mamandur inscription of the Pallava ruler. The ork exposes the religious practices of Sham medicants and the degeneration of the contemporary society in strong terms. This work somehow attracts the actors of the Kerala stage who adopted it is Kutiyattam despite its anti-Hindu bias. The present publication includes the text and English translation whough the thrust is on the theatrical aspect in Kutiyattam about which the details are presented here for the first time.
