Dr. B. Subrahmanyam, born on 27th August 1950 in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, pursued his Post-Graduation in Ancient Indian History and Archaeology from Andhra University, Waltair, and obtained his M.A. degree in 1974. He joined the State Archaeological Department in Hyderabad in 1975 and became actively involved in excavations, particularly in the submersible region of the Srisailm Project. He earned his Ph.D. in Proto and Early Historic Cultures of the Mahbubnagar region in 1986 from Mysore University.

Dr. Subrahmanyam has contributed significantly to the field of archaeology, publishing works like Thotlakonda-A Buddhist Site in A.P. (1992) and Directory of Monuments: Antiquarian Remains in Anantapur District A.P. (1993). He is also known for his discovery of Buddhist relic caskets from Bavikonda, for which he received an incentive award from the Government of Andhra Pradesh in 1994.

Currently, he serves as the Research and Training Officer at the Department of Archaeology and Museums, Hyderabad, where he continues his work on the Directory of Monuments of Andhra Pradesh and finalizes excavation reports. He remains dedicated to exploring new areas in the field of archaeology, especially within Andhra Pradesh.
