About Begumpuri Saree

Begumpuri sarees are beautifully handwoven by over 2,000 weavers and 1,000 artisans in Hooghly district. These easy-to-maintain cotton sarees do not require frequent starching. Known for their deep and bright colours, Begumpuri sarees are characterised by a loosely woven coarse structure with a smooth feel. It takes 2-3 days for a weaver to prepare a single Begumpuri saree. Biswa Bangla has introduced new designs and colours using natural dyes to recreate the renowned Begumpuri saree for the contemporary connoisseur.
