About the Book
In a world still plagued by issues like communalism, terrorism, casteism, corruption, gender inequality, and fundamentalism, the need for value education has never been more critical. This volume highlights the pivotal role value education plays in social transformation, urging for the incorporation of core societal values into early schooling to create a just society.
Despite recognizing the importance of educating children about the values of social justice, democracy, equality, secularism, tolerance, and fraternity, many schools continue to fail in internalizing these ideals into students' personalities. Without embedding these values into children's education from a young age, the dream of a truly just society remains a distant hope.
This comprehensive volume consists of 25 articles, divided into three sections, contributed by renowned social scientists, philosophers, and activists. It examines how polity, culture, and economy shape education and values, exploring the reciprocal relationship between these spheres.
The book is an essential resource not only for scholars and students of education and social sciences but also for policymakers seeking to bring about meaningful social change through education.
