About the Author

Bedprakas SyamRoy holds an MA in Economics from Calcutta University and a Ph.D. from North Bengal University. He began his career in the West Bengal Civil Service (1970) and later served as a member of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) from 1989. Dr. SyamRoy retired as Special Secretary of Development and Planning and went on to serve as a member of the Third State Finance Commission, West Bengal. His areas of expertise include development administration, decentralized planning, and state planning. He has authored several books and journal articles, contributing significantly to the field of population studies and development economics.
