About the Book:
Rajasthan is a land with a rich and vibrant history, renowned for its diverse culture, traditions, and political heritage. Over centuries, it has evolved as a mosaic of religions, ethnicities, and socio-cultural institutions, while its economy has transitioned from a feudal past toward a modern framework.
This volume presents selected papers from the Fifth International Conference on Rajasthan, held under the theme “Multiple Histories, Ethnicity, Pluralism and Institutions.” The contributions provide deep insights into Rajasthan’s historical narratives, multicultural identity, and institutional transformations, covering topics such as:
-
Multiple histories and interpretations of Rajasthan
-
Ethnicity, pluralism, and multiculturalism in its society
-
Colonial studies, including varied perspectives on James Tod’s work
-
Environmental challenges and animal wealth in the region
-
Socio-cultural institutions and the evolving fabric of Rajasthani life
Together, these papers offer a comprehensive exploration of Rajasthan’s changing face, making this volume an invaluable resource for historians, researchers, students, and scholars of culture, politics, and society.
