About Garod Sarees:

Garod is a variety of silk traditionally woven in Bengal, known for its distinctive design and texture. The quintessential Garod saree features plain red borders set against a smooth natural ground with widely spaced motifs, usually paisleys, scattered diagonally from feet to waist. These sarees are preferred by women of Bengal, especially during the pujas. Each saree takes approximately 4-5 days for a skilled weaver to craft.

Biswa Bangla collaborates with the weavers of Murshidabad district to bring fresh designs and colours, maintaining the traditional essence of Garod while meeting the tastes of modern connoisseurs.

Colour, Texture & Wash Care Information:

  • General: Colour and texture may slightly vary from the product image due to the handwoven nature of the fabric.

  • Embroidery: Minor irregularities in design are natural and part of the charm of handwoven, hand-embroidered, and hand-crafted products. These unique variations are celebrated by connoisseurs around the world.

  • Handwoven: Missing yarn, slubs, and uneven yarn contrasts are typical of handwoven products, contributing to the one-of-a-kind appeal of each piece.

  • Handprinted: Colour fading or bleeding may occur due to traditional dyeing and printing techniques.
