About Garod Sarees:

Garod is a traditional variety of silk from Bengal, known for its unique design and texture. The classic Garod saree features plain red borders set against a smooth natural base, adorned with widely spaced paisley motifs scattered diagonally. These sarees are highly preferred by Bengali women, especially during puja festivals. Each Garod saree takes around 4-5 days for a skilled weaver to create, making each piece a work of art.

Biswa Bangla collaborates with weavers from the Murshidabad district to bring fresh colours and designs while preserving the traditional Garod experience for modern tastes.

Colour, Texture & Wash Care Information:

  • General: The colour and texture of the product may slightly vary from the photograph due to the handwoven nature of the fabric.

  • Embroidery: Minor irregularities are common in handwoven, hand-embroidered, and hand-crafted products. These variations contribute to the charm and uniqueness of handmade products, a feature often missing in machine-made items.

  • Handwoven: Missing yarn, slubs, and uneven yarn contrasts are typical in handwoven products, and they add to the distinctiveness and beauty of each piece.

  • Handprinted: The traditional dyeing and printing processes may result in slight imperfections, and colours may fade or bleed.
