About the Book
The year 2001, declared as the Year of Empowerment of Women by the Government of India, coincided with the compilation of the National Policy for the Empowerment of Women (NPEW). This anthology, born out of a national seminar, investigates how such well-meaning policies can be effectively implemented. By focusing on current challenges, available alternatives, potential solutions, and the initial stages of empowerment already visible, the book offers a multi-disciplinary perspective on women's empowerment.

Unlike other academic discourses on the topic, which often overlook the overlaps across disciplines, this collection takes a holistic approach, encompassing fields such as fine arts, literature, management, law, canon studies, and social sciences. The book aims to forge lasting links of empowerment, ensuring that every individual can embody and radiate the power of "Shakti."
