Details: Tantrapaddhati better known at Isanasivagurudevapaddhati after the name of its author Isanasiva is a monumental treatise on Tantra. The renowned author from Kerala belonging to the 12th century has composed this compendium of encyclopaedia nature based on Saivagamas and other Tantric works. The work is divided into four parts, viz. Samanyapada, Mantrapada, Kriyapada and Yogapada. The first two Padas from the first part of the book while the other two form the second part. Althogether the treatise consists of 119 chapters called Patalas and deals with a varity of topics such as hymns of various deities ; mears of their attainment ; their applicationfor averting evil effects ; the science of magic ; construction and renovation of temples ; their consecration ; daily rituals and festivals and numerous other details. Over sixty authoritative works pertaining to a wide range of scientific and technical literature is referred by the author as his sources. The work was originally edited by Mahamahopadhyaya Dr. T. Ganapati Sastri some sixty years ago in the renowned Trivandrum Sanskrit Series in four parts. The present edition contains a detailed general introduction and study by Dr. N. P. Unni former Professor and Head of Dept. of Sanskrit - University of Kerala and Ex-Vice Chancellor, Sree Sankaracharya Sanskrit University.
