About the Author:
Dr. K.M. Suresh, born in 1952, is a renowned scholar and archaeologist, currently serving as the Director (Museum) at Kannada University, Hampi. He earned his Master's Degree in Ancient Indian History, Culture, and Epigraphy from Karnataka University, Dharwar in 1974, and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Archaeology from the Institute of Archaeology, Archaeological Survey of India, New Delhi in 1986. In 1992, he completed his Ph.D. from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, on the topic "Sculptural Art of Hampi Vijayanagara."
Dr. Suresh has an extensive career in archaeology, having worked in various capacities at major archaeological sites such as Bijapur, Hampi, Khajuraho, Aihole, and Badami. He was involved in important excavations in the Excavation Branch IV of the Archaeological Survey of India and has contributed significantly to research on Indian art and history.
His works include notable contributions on Saivite Sculptures of Khajuraho, the Kandariya Mahadeva Temple at Khajuraho, the Sculptural Art of Hampi, and the History of the Chandellas, among others. He has authored numerous research papers and monographs on iconography, sculpture, epigraphy, and proto-history and is a chief editor for various scholarly volumes. Dr. Suresh is a member of several academic bodies and continues to contribute to the field through his research and publications.
