Dr. Sanjaya Kumar Mahapatra, born in 1963, is a distinguished historian and archaeologist, currently serving as the Reader in History and Principal at Janata College, Kuhuri, Khordha, Odisha. He has been honored with the prestigious Rashtriya Gaurav Award for his contributions to history and archaeology. With over two decades of dedicated research, Dr. Mahapatra has significantly enriched the understanding of India's art, architecture, and sculpture, contributing to the growth of its cultural heritage.

A versatile scholar, Dr. Mahapatra is well-versed in Yoga, Tantra, and Astrology, and has published seventy articles in various national and state journals, bringing him both state and national recognition. His notable works include "Mahiṣāsuramardinī in Art, Iconography and Cult Practices," "Mahiṣāsuramardinī: The Great Warrior Goddess," "Cāmuṇḍā in Mythology, Art and Iconography," "The Khākharā Temples," and "The Goddess Vārāhī." He has also co-edited the two-volume work "A Bouquet of Indian Heritage, Research and Management" and edited the treatise "Social History of Orissa in the 19th Century."
