Details: With immense gratitude and excitement, we present the second edition of our book, tailored to aid medical students, in mastering the practicals of physiology with a thorough conceptual and application-based understanding. The overwhelmingly positive response and invaluable feedback we received for the first edition have been instrumental in shaping this updated version. Your insights have guided us in refining our content and addressing areas for improvement, for which we are truly thankful. We have implemented several enhancements to enrich the book in response to the feedback. Firstly, we have expanded on the procedural steps preceding OSPE and OSCE questions, recognising the importance of clarity and thorough understanding. Additionally, errors identified in the previous edition have been diligently rectified to ensure accuracy and reliability. This edition also sees the addition of two new chapters: one focusing on pregnancy diagnostic tests, integrated within the chapter on semen examination, and the second on the assessment of higher functions. By incorporating these new chapters, we aim to ensure alignment with the NMC competency-based curriculum. One notable addition to this edition is the inclusion of viva questions aimed at deepening the understanding of physiology through application-based inquiries. We believe that these questions will not only bolster students' knowledge but also foster critical thinking skills essential for clinical practice. We have also introduced a new feature in this edition: worksheets accompanying each chapter. These worksheets provide students with a structured framework to document their results, observations, and inferences following the completion of practical exercises. By actively engaging in this process, students can reinforce their understanding of key concepts, identify areas for further review, and cultivate essential analytical skills crucial for clinical practice. Furthermore, we have enhanced the quality of diagrams throughout the book to provide clearer visual representations of physiological concepts. We understand the significance of visual aids in comprehension and have thus endeavoured to improve this aspect significantly. In line with the core philosophy of our book, which emphasises the integration of theory with practical application, we have meticulously curated content that facilitates holistic learning.
