"ABAR ESHO MAA II" captures a unique and heartfelt moment of devotion during the Durga Puja immersion ritual in a remote village of Purulia. Unlike the typical immersion process, the villagers transport the idol of Goddess Durga on a bullock cart with iron wheels. After performing a parikrama (ritualistic walk around the village) in the afternoon, the idol is placed in an open field, where snake charmers present their snakes as an offering to the goddess.
In this deeply moving scene, two snake charmers bow in prayer, with a humble request: "Do come again, Maa, so that we can live merrily next year." This photograph highlights the intriguing traditions of rural Bengal and symbolizes the hopes, prayers, and joyful devotion that the villagers carry with them during the Durga Puja festival.
This powerful photographic moment celebrates the unique cultural practices, the bond between humans and the divine, and the eternal faith that keeps the spirit of the festival alive year after year.
