About the Book
The concept of management and organizational culture has become a pivotal framework for understanding human systems within organizations, with a significant impact on organizational processes, employee dynamics, and overall performance. In the unique social and cultural milieu of India, the characteristics of the local context significantly shape the personality of management practitioners and influence management practices. Organizational culture plays an essential role in the management of organizations, and this book sheds light on its profound influence in Indian corporate settings.
The book highlights the limited ethnographic studies conducted to identify cultural variables impacting corporate and non-corporate management practices in India. It seeks to bridge this gap by exploring and analyzing these cultural variables through ethnographic research. This study delves into the trends within the management of corporate organizations in India, offering an ethnographic perspective that enriches the understanding of organizational behavior in a country with such a complex socio-cultural backdrop.
By reviewing case studies of various organizations, including scientific organizations, private companies, and public sector entities, the author draws attention to the intricate interplay of cultural influences on management practices. These case studies provide valuable insights into the distinctive characteristics of management in the Indian context and the role of organizational culture in shaping corporate success.
