Author Info:
Nihar Ranjan Ray is a scholar whose research has focused extensively on Burmese Art, Archaeology, and History. His original research was a comprehensive study of the origin and history of architecture in Burma, an area that was largely unexplored at the time. His investigations led him to observe a significant number of Brahmanical images scattered throughout Burma. These images intrigued him, particularly due to their artistic and iconographic value. Despite Burma's deep Buddhist roots, the presence of these images prompted Ray to study their role in Burmese architecture and history. This monograph is the outcome of his work in this field, contributing significantly to the understanding of early Indo-Burmese relations.
