Dr. Ambika Dhaka is an Assistant Professor in the Department of History at Maharaja Ganga Singh University, Bikaner. She is an eminent young scholar in the fields of Indian art, architecture, and archaeology. Dr. Dhaka has an impressive academic background, having earned first position in B.A. (Hons.) in History from Maliarani College, Jaipur, as well as the University Gold Medal from the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. She also holds a J.R.F. from ICHR and a Departmental Scholarship.
Her magnum opus, Brahmanical Temple Art and Architecture in Hadou (From Earliest Times to Seventh Century A.D.), showcases her expertise in temple art and architecture. Dr. Dhaka has participated in excavations at proto-historic sites like Balathal and Gilund in Rajasthan for five seasons and has worked with the renowned archaeologist Lt. G.L. Possehl from the University of Pennsylvania. She has also contributed to a research project from ICHR, New Delhi.
A prolific writer, Dr. Dhaka has published over 25 research papers in esteemed journals covering topics such as art, temple architecture, archaeology, numismatics, iconography, and museums. Her recent work on Copper Hoards and copper objects from Rajasthan has garnered attention for its significance in the field.
Dr. Dhaka is actively involved in academic activities, having participated in numerous seminars and conferences both in India and abroad. She is a life member of several respected academic societies, including ISPQS, IAS, RHC, IHC, NUCLEUS, SSAA, and The Numismatic Society of India.
