About the Author:

Dr. K.M. Suresh (Born 1952) is a renowned scholar in the field of archaeology and sculpture, particularly known for his extensive work on the sculptures and temples of Hampi, Karnataka. He served as the former Registrar and Retired Professor & Director (Museum) at the Kannada University, Hampi, in Karnataka.

He holds an M.A. from Karnataka University, Dharwad (1974), a P.G. Diploma in Archaeology from the Institute of Archaeology, Archaeological Survey of India, New Delhi (1986), and a Ph.D. from Utkala University, Bhubaneswar, Orissa (1992), with a thesis on "Sculptural Art of Hampi" under the guidance of the late Prof. K.S. Behera.

Dr. Suresh has contributed significantly to the field, having published over 20 books on sculptural and architectural art in India, especially on subjects relating to Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh. His notable works include Sculptural Art of Hampi, Saivite Sculptures of Khajuraho, Temples of Hampi, and the Encyclopedia of Indian Architecture.

He has worked in various capacities within the Archaeological Survey of India and participated in fieldwork and excavations across India, including Hampi, Khajuraho, Bijapur, and Aihole. He is currently working as a Visiting Professor at the National Institute of Advanced Studies, Indian Institute of Science Campus, Bangalore, on the Indian Digital Heritage Research Project on Hampi.

Dr. Suresh is also actively involved in guiding Ph.D. and M.Phil. scholars and serves as an examiner for various universities. He is a member of several academic societies and has contributed to numerous academic committees.
