Book Description

Tarinikhuror Kirtikalap introduces a vibrant new character, Tarini Khuro, created by the legendary author Satyajit Ray. Much like his famous creations, Professor Shanku and Detective Feluda, Tarini Khuro brings an entirely different charm and excitement to the world of storytelling. This character's tales blend mystery, thrill, and a touch of the supernatural, offering readers a collection of extraordinary stories.

Tarini Khuro, having lived in thirty-three cities of India, has accumulated an enormous stock of bizarre and adventurous tales. The stories in this book represent just a few of his thrilling experiences—eight in total. From the man-eating creatures of Dumonigarh to the ghosts of Pune, and from the mischievous spirit of Hyderabad to a cricket match in Martandpur, the book is packed with unexplainable events and adventures. Each story is more captivating than the last, filled with supernatural wonders and uncanny occurrences.

The tales are told by Tarini Khuro, who now spends his days sitting in Kolkata’s Bennettola Lane, sipping his tea without sugar, sharing his incredible stories. These eight stories are part of his treasure trove of experiences, each one as engaging as the last.

The book is further enhanced with illustrations and the cover design by Satyajit Ray himself, making it not just a collection of exciting tales but a work of art.

Author's Bio

Satyajit Ray (সত্যজিৎ রায়) was born on May 2, 1921, in North Kolkata, India. He was the only child of Sukumar Ray and Suprabha Ray. After completing his schooling at Balgung Government High School, he attended Presidency College and graduated with honors in 1940. Though he enrolled in Shantiniketan for further studies, he left in 1942 to pursue a career in the advertising industry.

Satyajit Ray's iconic career as a filmmaker began in 1955 with his groundbreaking film Pather Panchali, which received global recognition, including at the Cannes Film Festival. Apart from being a renowned filmmaker, Ray was also an accomplished writer, illustrator, and composer. His literary debut began with the story Abstraction in 1941, and he went on to write many stories, novels, and screenplays, creating characters like Professor Shanku and Feluda that became beloved figures in Bengali literature.
