About the Book

🎶 This book is a detailed and heartfelt biography of Nikhil Bandyopadhyay, one of India’s most celebrated sitar maestros.
🎶 The journey of a young boy who, at just 9 years old, performed with trembling fingers before his first audience—only to become, by 17, a musical prodigy who astonished India's greatest musicians.
🎶 His breakthrough moment came in 1956 at the Tansen Music Conference, where he was recognized as a true maestro.
🎶 His musical collaborations with legends like Ustad Alauddin Khan and Ali Akbar Khan shaped the landscape of Indian classical music.
🎶 The book traces his unparalleled musical journey, capturing how, despite his continuous rise, he always sought to outdo himself, perfecting his craft year after year.
🎶 Even on the night before his passing, he played his final performance, immersing himself in the depths of ragas Darbaari Kanada and Hemant.
🎶 A must-read for music lovers, this book includes:

  • Rare insights into his life and artistic evolution
  • A list of his recordings and compositions
  • His own writings on music
