About the Author:
Malaya Gangopadhyay hails from Krishnanagar and is a graduate of Calcutta University. She holds an MA in Bengali Language and Literature from Visva-Bharati University (with First Class). She was awarded a research fellowship from Calcutta University. She has studied Sanskrit and Modern Linguistics at Annamalai University and Mysore University. In 1972, she went to Australia on a fellowship and completed her PhD in 1976. After teaching in various colleges, she joined Annamalai University as a Reader. She taught in Melbourne, Deakin University, and Victoria, Australia, in the Adult Education Department. She has been an examiner for PhD theses at multiple universities and has participated in numerous linguistic and cultural conferences both in India and abroad. She is the author of various books and has been honored at the All India Bengali Literary Conference
