Book Description:
This book explores the rich and intricate world of Bengal’s terracotta temples, primarily built between the 17th and 19th centuries. The terracotta carvings on these temples represent a cultural history that is crucial for understanding Bengali heritage. The temples, spread across South Bengal, feature diverse decorations, blending mythological themes with everyday life, and drawing inspiration from various literary and social sources. The work delves into the study of the narratives depicted on these temples, integrating the study of literature and art history to offer a fresh perspective on Bengali culture. The book is supplemented with relevant photographs to help readers understand the subject better.
